I still don’t have an exact release date for Secrets of Edgemont Book 2, but it remains on track for September—probably closer to the middle or end of the month. In the meantime, I’ll be revealing the cover in the next couple of weeks!
It’s now been three months since the injury to the nerve in my tongue, and I still have a trace of scratchiness/numbness around the tip. It continues to improve, little by little, and I now have feeling in most of it.
We may be in the dog days of summer here in the United States, but around our house, we’ve had a visitor of the feline variety. One morning last week I thought I heard one of the juvenile Cooper’s hawks that we’ve been observing in our neighborhood making one of their funny calls, but then it started to sound more like a cat in distress. The calling stopped before I could pinpoint its source, but that evening when we took our dogs out, we heard it again. We searched around in the dusk with flashlights until we found a tiny black kitten burrowed into a patch of ivy across the street. We took the little guy in, but we knew we couldn’t keep him because our dogs aren’t cat friendly. So we fostered him, and I’m happy to say we found a wonderful forever home for him with some friends of mine, who happen to be part of my writing critique group.
Life is full of little surprises. Thankfully this one provided lots of joy and had a happy ending. For those little surprises that aren’t as delightful, may we all take them in stride and let them teach us something or make us stronger.
Take care!
