In case you were wondering where I was last month—as I’m sure you were 😊—I had to take a little mental-health break. Self-care is so important every day, and it’s especially so when you’re dealing with a health issue. It’s okay to slow down or step back or do whatever you need to do from time to time.
I’m also moving slow with the writing of Book 3 in the Edgemont series. I am learning to work with my strengths (organization, learning, etc.) in my writing process rather than follow everyone else’s advice. We’re all different. Some of us don’t write every day. We may spend a lot of time gathering information. That is just part of our process. Some people need to write for a certain amount of time or to reach a specific word count, but some of us write in spurts with varying word counts. There is no right or wrong way to do it.
For me it’s all about the quality of the finished product—short of getting hung up by perfectionism. I promise not to keep everyone waiting for years to find out what happens next to Gina Palmer and the rest of the Edgemont crew, and I hope it will be as fun for you to read as it is for me to write.
May your days be filled with peace, joy, and finding success in relying on your own strengths. And remember that it’s okay to take a mental-health break when needed.
Take care!
