I was born and raised in a small town in Alabama. I still reside in that lovely state in the city of Birmingham with my husband and our two dogs.
My love of reading and a vivid imagination fueled my dream to become a novelist at an early age. In the meantime, I earned a degree in journalism from The University of Alabama and graduated into a career that has included writing feature articles, copy editing, and managing projects for such publications and organizations as Cooking Light and Health magazines, UAB, and many others. In the midst of all that, I managed to snag an award for short fiction along the way. (I also performed and taught belly dancing for a few years—but that is a story for another time.)
My precious mother may have single-handedly kept Writer’s Digest magazine in business for several years because she bought every book they ever published about writing for me. Thanks to her encouragement—and that of many others, including my nephew Will, who never failed to ask “Have you finished your novel yet?”—I am about to realize my dream.
